Bartolome Island.- This is a relatively small island off the south eastern coast of Santiago in Sullivan Bay. The geology is interesting in that there are a large number of cinder cones and spatter cones, giving a major part of the island a 'moonscape' appearance. It is possible to climb to the summit of a volcano (now inactive) to obtain a magnificent view. There are steps to the summit both to make the climb easier and also to protect the volcanic ash from erosion by climbers. This trail is reached from a dry landing.
