Where are the Galapagos Islands?

The Enchanted Islands of Galapagos are located 500 miles (800 kilometers) west of the Ecuadorian coast. The Galapagos archipelago is politically part of Ecuador.

What is the best time of year to travel to Galapagos?

There is not best time to visit the islands as there is an abundance of unique flora and founa year round. However, it is warmer and may be wet between December and April, and cooler from June until November.

How long is the flight from Ecuador to Galapagos?

You should take a domestic flight in the morning with Tame or Aerogal to the Galapagos, landing at Baltra or San Cristobal. These domestic flights always start from Quito, stop at Guayaquil 30 minutes later, and then continue to the Galapagos after refueling. The Galapagos Islands are about 600 miles west of the Ecuadorian mainland, and flying time is around 1 hour 40 minutes.

The Galapagos National Park service works hand in hand with the Charles Darwin Research Station implementing their common goals of conservation and preservations of the natural resources with the Galapagos National Park and Galapagos Marine Reserve.

What are the National Park rules?

1.-No plant, animal, or remains of such (including shells, bones, and pieces of wood), or other natural objects should not be removed or disturbed.
2.-Be careful not to transport any live material to the islands, or from island to island.
3.-Do not take any food to the uninhabited islands, for the same reason. Do not touch or handle the animals
4.-Do not feed the animals. It can be dangerous to you, and in the long run would destroy the animals social structure and breeding habits.
5.-Do not startle or chase any animal from its resting or nesting spot.
6.-Stay within the areas designated as visiting sites.
7.-Do not leave any litter on the islands, or throw any off your boat.
8.-Do not deface the rocks
9.-Do not buy souvenirs or objects made of plants or animals from the islands.
10.-Do not visit the islands unless accompanied by a licensed National Park Guide.
11.-Restrict your visits to officially approved areas Show your conservationist attitude.

What is the National Park entrance fee & how can I pay it?

Everybody is required to pay a $ 100,oo entrance fee even students. The only discounts are given to people from the Andean Community (Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela and Bolivia) who pay a $ 40,oo entrance fee.

What type of electrical outlets & currency is on board?

Yachts operate on 110 vts/60 cycle currency, with standard North American outlets, as do all the hotels in Galapagos.
